Caitlin Heffernan is an artist based in Brighton, UK. She works across painting and installation. Caitlin has exhibited nationally and internationally. She has been awarded residencies, fellowships and commissions within the UK and Europe. During the last 18 months she has concentrated on developing paintings which bring together a range of her interests in the natural and uncanny, creating psychologically charged works.
She is concerned with natural and wild spaces, the luscious and sensuous world, using patterns and organic spheres. Ariel images of the earth, maps and plans of wetlands have inspired the paintings. They are sometimes claustrophobic, yet rich with colour and pattern saturation. The paintings refer to a constant state of flux, unsettled land and water, for unsettling times. The works have been made in response to the uncertainty and change that so many of us have been experiencing but it is also inspired by the forms and beautiful chaos of the natural world.
